"Uses terror and fear as a motivator. They turn people away from using reason." Only Christianity, Islam, and possibly Judaism do this. If you read some Buddhist texts, you will find that they are quite reasonable indeed. Try the Dalai Lama's How to See Yourself As you Really Are. It's a treatise on Dependent Origination which teaches that NOTHING exists in and of itself.

That just tells me why you don't like Christians and still doesn't answer my question.

Richard Dawkins himself entitled his presentation "Queerer than we can suppose, the strangeness of science." In my opinion the video shouldn't be named "An atheist's call to arms". It is a very misleading title that portrays atheism as a militant school of thought; which compared to religion, is obviously not militant at all.

You need to travel some before you claim such silly things.

SJamesGray Answer to 1st question: Because Christians tend to whine the loudest, and thump their bibles at people the most often.

God creating all things through evolution makes more sense than no God at all. Those who deny a creator God are blind to the truth. Dawkins is smart but nowhere near as smart as the creator. God made it, Dawkins discovered it.

Sorry, I really try to be an equal opportuity religion basher. As none of them are needed. I won't say everything I read from rel scholars is bad, nor is everything I read in the Bible bad. Detriments of religion: Rel teach a belief in the supernatural. Attract people with imaginary hopes. Uses terror and fear as a motivator. They turn people away from using reason. I love your last point. But I must be free from religions lies, and use my mind to reason what is worth remembering.

What is with this constant atheistic notion that everybody who is religious is Christian?! What about all the Taoists, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, Confucians, Jains, Sikhs, Zoroastrians, Animists and other indigenous peoples? And where do you get the notion that religious scholars don't write books or contribute knowledge to the human race? Also, a book can be thrown into the fire and its material changes. It's the teachings on the pages of the book that are truly transcendent.
